Application Process
The application process for SJU is as follows:
There are rolling admissions two times. Year for sessions commencing in September and May. The admissions committee’s decision will be c communicated within 2 to 6 weeks from the day of receipt of the completed application.
The following documents are required to be submitted:
- Completed Application Form
- Personal Essay
- Official Transcripts
- MCAT Score (if applicable)
- TOEFL score (TOEFL (Test of English as a Foreign Language) examination score may be required from applicants from countries where English is not an official language).
- Two (2) recommendation letters (from persons who have known the applicant for at least five (5) years).
US$100 Application Fee (non-refundable)
Admission Requirements
Medical Program
Admission into the Medical Program, requires eligible candidates to possess the following:
- Associate degree in the Physical or biological sciences with a Grade Point Avenge (GPA) of 2.50 -3.00 is required.
- Five (5) General Certificate of Education (GCE) or Caribbean Examinations Council (CXC) passes (at a minimum of level III or grade C) or equivalent, including:
- English Language
- Mathematics
- Chemistry
- Biology
- Physics (is an asset but not a requirement).
Associate Degree in Medical Diagnostic Sonography Program
Admission into the Associate Degree in Medical Diagnostic Sonography Program, requires eligible candidates to possess the following:
- Minimum of five (5) CSEC (CXC) General Proficiency (Grade I-III) or GCE Subjects
- Compulsory – English Language
- Mathematics
- Chemistry
- Biology
- Physics (is a plus but not required)
Associate Degree in Laboratory Technology Program
Admission into the Associate Degree in Laboratory Technology Program, requires eligible candidates to possess the following:
- Minimum of five (5) CSEC (CXC) General Proficiency (Grade I-III) or GCE Subjects
- Compulsory – English Language
- Mathematics
- Chemistry
- Biology
- Physics (is a plus but not required)
Nursing Program
Admission into the Nursing Program requires eligible candidates to possess the following:
- Five (5) CXC/CSEC General Proficiency grades I, II, III OR GCE O’Level Grades A, B,C , CAPE- Grades 1-4
- Three compulsory subjects’ i.e
- English Language
- Science, Integrated Science or Human and Social Biology and or Biology
- Mathematics, Pure Mathematics of Applied Mathematics
Midwifery Program
Admission into the Midwifery Program requires eligible candidates to possess the following:
- At least two years experience in general nursing.
- Level II Nursing- Four subjects minimum
- Two (2) compulsory subjects i.e
- English Language
- Science: Biology, Integrated Science or Human and Social Biology or Biology and two (2) other subjects from the approved subjects list.
Culinary Arts Program
Admission into the Culinary Arts Program requires eligible candidates to possess the following:
Five (5) General Certificate of Education (GCE) or Caribbean Examinations Council (CXC) passes (at a minimum of level III or Grade C) or equivalent, including English Language.
OR
Four (4) General Certificate of Education (GCE) or Caribbean Examinations Council (CXC) passes (at a minimum level of level III or Grade C) and one Secondary School Certificate (SSC) pass including English Language.
Information Technology Program
Five (5) General Certificate of Education (GCE) or Caribbean Examinations Council (CXC) passes (at a minimum of level III or Grade C) or equivalent, including English Language.
Four (4) General Certificate of Education (GCE) or Caribbean Examinations Council (CXC) passes (at a minimum level of level III or Grade C) and one Secondary School Certificate (SSC) pass including English Language.
A minimum score of 1170 on the Scholastic Aptitude Test (SAT I) for students outside the English Speaking Caribbean, where 1, 2 and 3 above do not apply.
A minimum Scholastic Aptitude Test (SAT II) of 650 for individual subjects is required for science programmes.
A three year diploma or associate degree from an approved tertiary institution.
Associate Degree in Marine Biology Program
Admission into the Associate Degree in Marine Biology Program, requires eligible candidates to possess the following:
- Minimum of five (5) CSEC (CXC) General Proficiency (Grade I-III) or GCE Subjects
- Compulsory – English Language
- Mathematics
- Chemistry
- Biology
- Physics (is a plus but not required)
Bachelor of Pharmacy Program
Admission into the Bachelor of Pharmacy Program, requires eligible candidates to possess the following:
- Five (5) CXC/CSEC General Proficiency grades I, II, III OR GCE O’Level Grades A, B,C , CAPE- Grades 1-4
- Three compulsory subjects’ i.e.
- English Language
- Science, Integrated Science or Human and Social Biology and or Biology

Bachelor of Business Administration Program
Admission into the Bachelor of Business Administration Program, requires eligible candidates to possess the following:
Five (5) General Certificate of Education (GCE) or Caribbean Examinations Council (CXC) passes (at a minimum of level III or grade C) or equivalent, including English Language.
Four (4) General Certificate of Education (GCE) or Caribbean Examinations Council (CXC) passes (at a minimum of level III or grade C) and one Secondary School Certificate pass including English Language.
A minimum of 1170 on the Scholastic aptitude Test (SATI) for students outside the English Speaking Caribbean, where 1,2,3 above do not apply.
A minimum of Scholastic Aptitude Test (SAT II) of 650 for individual subjects is required for science programmes.
