Scholarship Program
The SJU scholarship program offers two types of scholarships to its students who are part of the Student Ambassador Program. Scholarships are based on the student’s ability to meet the requirements as set forth by the governing board. The following requirements for consideration of acceptance are as follows;
General Requirements
- Students must form part of the university’s ambassador program for at least 1 semester
- Students must actively participate in any event or recruitment activity organized by the program administrators
- Students must complete the online scholarship application for the relevant scholarship type desired
MedMind Science Scholarship
Tuition free scholarship
- This is a scholarship opportunity afforded to 1 local and 1 international student yearly
- Be enrolled in any of the University’s Medical Degree programs at the Baccalaureate level
- Must maintain a minimum GPA of 3.2 after the first semester
- Must commit to complete the program of study
- Submit an essay of 500 words stating why you are the best fit for this scholarship type
- Attain 1 letter of recommendation from a course lecturer from the previous semester
C.J.F Leadership Scholarship
Need based full scholarship
- This is offered to 1 Dominican National every 2 years, which is the duration of any Associate Degree program offered by the University.
- Student must have attained at least 7 subjects at the CXC level
- Student must have excellent leadership capabilities, and must be willing to partake in local student government
- Student must maintain a minimum GPA of 3.5 or higher for the duration of the program of study to maintain that scholarship status
- An essay of at least 750 words detailing his/her passion for studying at SJU and their need for the scholarship
Flora Adams Scholarship
50% tuition free scholarship
- This scholarship is offered to employees of the group of companies
- Each person must sign a bonded contract that stipulates they must be employed under the group of companies to maintain the scholarship. Should he/she leave the establishment, that individual would be required to pay back the investment, and would automatically forfeit the scholarship
- Scholarship is offered in an area of study that is beneficial to the employer or contributes to his/her future aspirations that coincide with the employer’s needs.
- Employee must maintain a cumulative GPA of 3.2
Investor’s Scholarship
- This scholarship is afforded to investors of the University (1 scholarship per family)
- Students eligible must maintain a cumulative GPA of 3.0 and must complete their program of study at the university
- It can be applied to any program of choice
